The Short Answer
You finished Warriors, Into the Wild, you loved it, and now you want to know what comes next. Which book is number two? How big is this series? And is there a show?
Here is the short answer. Read in publication order, and start with the six books of the first arc. Then keep going if you are hooked, because there are many more. As for screens, an animated series is reportedly on the way, but it is still years off.
This video has light spoilers for the early books, and I will keep them as small as I can.
The First Arc
The first arc is called The Prophecies Begin. It has six books, and they were all published within two years.
Book one is Into the Wild, in two thousand three. Book two is Fire and Ice, also two thousand three. Book three is Forest of Secrets, again two thousand three.
Book four is Rising Storm, from two thousand four. Book five is A Dangerous Path, two thousand four. And book six is The Darkest Hour, two thousand four.
Think of this arc as one long story in six parts. You really should read them in order. Each book ends with a hook that leads into the next.
What Happens Next
Without giving away the big moments, here is what to expect.
In Fire and Ice, our hero and his best friend take on a quest to help another Clan, and a friendship across Clan borders starts to cause trouble. In Forest of Secrets, the hunt for the truth about a dangerous cat gets serious.
In Rising Storm, the Clan’s leader is under strain, and a disaster hits the camp. In A Dangerous Path, an old enemy comes back, with a very different name. And in The Darkest Hour, the whole forest faces a danger from outside, and the Clans have to decide whether they can stand together.
If you cared about the ending of book one, you will find that the arc picks up its threads quickly.
The Wider Series
After the first arc, the series just keeps going. As of October 2026, there are nine arcs.
The New Prophecy, from two thousand five, sends a group of cats on a journey beyond the mountains to search for a new home. Power of Three, from two thousand seven, follows a prophecy about three special cats. Omen of the Stars, from two thousand nine, continues that story.
Dawn of the Clans, from two thousand thirteen, is a prequel, set before the first arc. A Vision of Shadows begins in two thousand sixteen, and The Broken Code in two thousand nineteen. A Starless Clan began in two thousand twenty two, and Changing Skies in two thousand twenty five. It is described as still ongoing.
Most arcs are planned as six books each. That adds up to a lot of reading.
Extras and Spin Offs
Around the main arcs, there are also extras.
Super Editions are longer standalone novels. Two well known ones are Firestar’s Quest, from two thousand seven, and Bluestar’s Prophecy, from two thousand nine. There are also novellas, and a field guide called Cats of the Clans, which has portraits and background.
There are manga and graphic novels as well. The first arc has been adapted as graphic novels, and there are manga side stories such as A Thief in ThunderClan.
And the same pen name also writes other animal series, like Seekers about bears. I covered those in my books like it video.
My advice is to skip the extras until you have finished the first arc. Then dip in, when you want more of a character you love.
How The Books Connect
How do all these books fit together?
The big idea is that each arc is a new chapter in one long history. Characters you meet in book one return, grow older, and become legends. Their choices become the stories that later cats tell. The prophecies, the code, and the rivalries all echo forward.
The forest is the first home, and later arcs take the Clans to new places. Dawn of the Clans goes back in time to show where it all began.
My opinion is that you do not have to read it all. The first arc is a complete story, and it is satisfying to stop there. But every arc adds a new layer, so fans tend to keep going.
On Screen
Now, to the question many of you are asking. Is there a movie or a show?
Here is what is known, as of October 2026. The books are reportedly the basis of an animated television series. In two thousand twenty four, the official Warrior Cats website announced that the company Coolabi Productions had made a deal with Tencent Video to create official animation. That is an official announcement.
Then in June of two thousand twenty six, Deadline and other outlets reported that Disney had picked up the show, for Disney Plus and the Disney Channel. Those reports say it follows the first arc, The Prophecies Begin, and that it is already in production, with a premiere reportedly set for two thousand twenty eight. The same reports say the books have sold more than ninety million copies.
I would treat the date and the details as reported, not final. No cast, release schedule, or trailer is confirmed that I could find. Plans like this can change.
Where To Start
So, what should you do?
If you finished Into the Wild and loved it, read Fire and Ice next. If you want to try before you commit, the first arc is the best test. If you want to meet the world through a different cat, try a Super Edition later.
I will keep an eye on the show. For now, the books are the real thing.
