Intro

If you just finished A Court of Silver Flames, by Sarah J. Maas, and you want more romantic fantasy with big emotions and found family, this video is for you.

These are six picks, from dragons to heists. A note: some of these are for adult readers, and some are young adult. Let’s get started.

Fourth Wing

Number one is Fourth Wing, by Rebecca Yarros, from twenty twenty three. Violet Sorrengail is forced into a brutal war college for dragon riders, and she has to survive classmates who want her dead.

It has the same training montage energy, a slow burning romance, and plenty of danger. It is an adult romantasy.

Throne of Glass

Number two is Throne of Glass, by Sarah J. Maas, from twenty twelve. Celaena Sardothien is a young assassin who is pulled from prison to compete as the king’s champion.

It is by the same author, and it has a strong heroine and a world that grows enormous. It starts as young adult, and gets darker as it goes.

From Blood and Ash

Number three is From Blood and Ash, by Jennifer L. Armentrout, from twenty twenty. A young woman is chosen for a sacred duty, and a mysterious guard is assigned to protect her.

It is steamy, full of secrets, and a good fit for readers who love slow burn and big twists. It is for adults.

The Cruel Prince

Number four is The Cruel Prince, by Holly Black, from twenty eighteen. A human girl grows up in the faerie court, and she decides to fight for a place there.

It is young adult, sharper and more political than Maas, and a great pick if you loved the court intrigue.

Six of Crows

Number five is Six of Crows, by Leigh Bardugo, from twenty fifteen. A crew of outcasts takes on a nearly impossible heist.

It does not have a main romance, but it has a very strong found family, and every character carries trauma and hope. It is young adult.

Kingdom of the Wicked

Number six is Kingdom of the Wicked, by Kerri Maniscalco, from twenty twenty. A young woman investigates her twin sister’s murder, and makes a dangerous deal with a prince of Hell.

It is dark, gothic, and romantic, and a good pick if you like danger with your slow burn.

Where To Start

So which one first? If you want dragons and training, start with Fourth Wing. If you want more Maas, try Throne of Glass. If you want a found family, pick Six of Crows. Links to all six are in the description below.
