The Magician's Nephew

by C. S. Lewis

Two London children touch a magician's rings, wake the queen of a dead world and watch a lion sing the land of Narnia into being.

★★★★☆ 4 / 5

A short, funny, surprisingly dark origin story with a villain who stays with you and a temptation scene that works for any age. The magician's cruelty to animals and a dying mother give it real weight. Four out of five (draft rating).
